98-05 VW LUPO INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS


  

1. This is the stock boot shown for reference.

2. Pull the shift boot so the bottom of the boot comes off the bottom trim

3. Flip the boot inside out until the shift lever is exposed

4. IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO CUT THE METAL RING!

5. I took the knob off just by pulling it out.

6. f it does not work for you then the ring can be pried apart enough to allow the knob to come off.

7. With the knob off, carefully remove the plastic retaining sleeve, which holds the boot cover to the shift knob.

8. Remove the old boot.

9. Get the new leather boot and flip it inside out.

10. Slide the new boot onto the knob.

11. Slide the plastic retaining sleeve over the new boot.

13. Put the shift knob back to the shift level.

14. Push the knob down.

15. Squeeze the metal ring with a crimpers or pliers. If you cut the metal ring when you remove the old boot then you will need to replace it with an appropriate hose clamp. Re-install the bottom of the boot.

Useful tip

You have installed a product made out of genuine leather. As you know, to maintain a leather product in good condition, you should take care of it. We suggest occasionally (every 4-6 week for example) applying some leather conditioner/UV protector to keep your leather from drying up in the sun and cracking.
